Over the weekend nineteen of us gathered for the first ever Writing Wild Retreat.
The idea had been hatched months before and the excitement grew over the months until we finally all came together for the Friday night meet and greet in the main dining room of Chute Lake Lodge.
The night was great. Everyone got their registration package which included crazy fun glasses. After our wine and appies we gathered for our first group pic–this one includes the head chef of Chute Lake Lodge, Francesco.
We all left the dining room to go explore the dark wild, rustic night. Some gathered in a cabin and had an hour write-in–there was no talking or laughing–just writing.
The second day of the retreat consisted of a three hour workshop on journaling and learning more about who you are. This was led by Sita Rani and extremely well received. The exercises bring out stuff that you didn’t even realize was there.
This group came together so well. I only knew about half of them before hand but it didn’t take long or everyone to relax and get into the Writing Wild.
It was a beautiful day. Many writers snuggled in beside the fire in the main lodge and spent all day writing. Some went hiking and others tucked into their cabin to concentrate on their work. There’s no pressure. Everyone came together again at lunch and dinner. It was a wonderful day.
If you didn’t get to attend this year, don’t worry, there’ll be other opportunities. Always remember to take time for yourself to write and explore your inner voice and being. You never know what you’ll find.
