My Twisted Writer Brain…

The Writing Wild Retreat Pix

Over the weekend nineteen of us gathered for the first ever Writing Wild Retreat.

The idea had been hatched months before and the excitement grew over the months until we finally all came together for the Friday night meet and greet in the main dining room of Chute Lake Lodge.

Getting to know each other.
Friday Night Meet and Greet
Learning about each other

The night was great. Everyone got their registration package which included crazy fun glasses. After our wine and appies we gathered for our first group pic–this one includes the head chef of Chute Lake Lodge, Francesco.

What a fantastic group of kind and talented women.

We all left the dining room to go explore the dark wild, rustic night. Some gathered in a cabin and had an hour write-in–there was no talking or laughing–just writing.

How many writers does it take to start a fire in the wood stove? Well, it only take one writer to build a world and develop characters so heinous or lovely (depending on your genre)…so I shouldn’t have to tell you how many to light a fire…lol.

The second day of the retreat consisted of a three hour workshop on journaling and learning more about who you are. This was led by Sita Rani and extremely well received. The exercises bring out stuff that you didn’t even realize was there.

This group came together so well. I only knew about half of them before hand but it didn’t take long or everyone to relax and get into the Writing Wild.

It was a beautiful day. Many writers snuggled in beside the fire in the main lodge and spent all day writing. Some went hiking and others tucked into their cabin to concentrate on their work. There’s no pressure. Everyone came together again at lunch and dinner. It was a wonderful day.

It’s all about making new friends.

If you didn’t get to attend this year, don’t worry, there’ll be other opportunities. Always remember to take time for yourself to write and explore your inner voice and being. You never know what you’ll find.

    1. Hi Angie. Sorry about the confusion. Yes, it was two separate blogs entries because I added so many pix. If you ever get the chance to do a writers retreat–go for it…It’s good for the soul. It’s very nice to ‘meet’ you and I hope you keep reading. Thanks for reaching out. I hope to hear from you again. 🙂

  2. Looks like such a lovely time…Thanks for sharing the pics! I have to say, I’d be torn between writing and hiking… and hiking would’ve probably won. The journaling workshop sounds intriguing…

  3. Looks like a fun, inspiring, productive weekend in a great country setting! And the bonus is meeting other writers to network with. Thanks for sharing the photos, Faye!
