Auntie Says..., My Twisted Writer Brain…

Welcome to The Week in Review and Tying up The Loose Ends

Hello Everyone. Happy Saturday.

You know, since this pandemic started I haven’t strayed too far from home. I put plans on hold and as a result, time of day and/or day of the week, simply didn’t matter anymore. Since I work from home, I easily lose track of the days, and half the time don’t know whether it’s Monday or Thursday. Sigh….

What bugged me the most though was that along with the loss of what day it is, I lost track of any work accomplishments. I wasn’t even sure I was getting anything done anymore. So, I began the Saturday Week in Review so I could actually see how much I was getting done and so far it’s working well for me and I hope you enjoy it.

Let me know what you’re doing too!

ALPHA READ…

Here you’ll see Piper waiting very patiently for me to get off the phone from friend and fellow writer Lorna Schultz Nicolson. She is a very successful and talented author friend who generously agreed to AlphaRead a manuscript for me. This was not only inspiring, but also lit a fire under my butt to get it rewritten and submitted to my agent. It’s gonna be good….I’ll keep y’all in the loop.

Now in case you’re wondering –Piper got a nice tasty treat when it was all over and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Not too much suffering I promise.

BLOG PUBLICATION TIME…

In the last few days you may’ve noticed that blogs are now posting at 10am instead of 3pm.

I’m hoping that this provides you with more time to read and comment.

This is a deliberate change on my part. While 3pm worked ok, it just seemed so late in the day for many. Let’s see what happens.

COMPLETED FOR NOW…

I submitted a non-fiction book proposal this week to my agent. Phew… it’s been a long process but it’s not just about the idea and concept its about building that platform and being visible to the world.

In the next week or so I’ll do a post about how to prepare a non fiction book proposal and also discuss the need to build a platform sooner rather than later.

THE SUMMIT…

So, talk about being “visible”, on Tuesday the 19th, my interview with Traci Skuce went live. I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I welcome you to the blog and hope you enjoy My Twisted Writer Brain.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me or make requests for specific topics. There’s so much to say, learn, and discuss that a tap on the shoulder goes a long way.

The event with Traci was fun and inspiring and I hope you all learned a lot and are ready to move forward in your journey.

THE POET LAUREATE

wow…just wow!

If you didn’t see Amanda Gorman read her poem at the US Inauguration I’d highly recommend it (I’m sure you can google it).

For a 22 year old young woman, she was not only poised and dignified but her words offered hope and inspiration for a country who’s seen too much turmoil in the last few years.

For me, the written word so illustrates the power behind them. Putting action there may be another thing but there is hope.
