Hi all! I hope this finds you enjoying this early May spring weather.
Even if you’re on the other side of the world, I hope your autumn weather is cooperating with life.
Did you check out the Six Word Story? I hope you go participate. The prompt is there.
And don’t forget to check out the Call for Submission for May. There’s some really good opportunities there.
And for Auntie Says, this week I addressed a letter I received from a reader about being Blindsided. Check it out by clicking on the tab.
And, about Parents Establishing a Nightly Forever Routine. Great read. Short and smart–even if I do say so myself. lol.
Give them a click and a read. It’s a good thing.
First and foremost, in Canada this weekend is Mother’s Day. I want to wish every mom, auntie, granny, sister, dad’s who are moms too, and anyone who cares for and nurtures a child–Happy Day to You All.
Mother’s Day to me is too much of a commercial grab with the $50 brunches, the roses, and the idea of having to give gifts. It’s too much for me. I don’t like it.
I always like the things that came from the heart. A letter, a poem, a sketch, or a hug. It shouldn’t have to cost anything.
I prefer to celebrate the idea of anyone–male, female, nonbinary, trans….whatever–If you support and nurture a child, that’s enough for me.
This is a picture of me and my mom.
She passed away in 2014 and I still miss her. She was a feisty woman and mama to 8 of her own kids and half the neighborhood.
A note to parents with more than one child.
As one of eight children I have umpteen thousand pix of family. But I have very few–like maybe one or two–pictures of me alone with my mom or dad.
It’s funny because you don’t think of it at the time. The gatherings were always large and pictures taken with many of us together….all the sisters…that sort of thing. While I love those, I wish I had more of just me and mom.
So, if you have more than one kid, take note of that and do some lone pix.
It’s been a funny week because I’ve been getting ready for a virtual writer’s festival. I can’t tell you how anxious I am to get back to in-person events. But for now virtual will have to do.
I’ll see you all next week.
In the meantime. Stay outta trouble.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
