Omg...I don't know how many times I've entered a contest and really--seriously-- thought my entry was THE WINNER!! Like how could it NOT win? Well, the judge picked something else to win.
Writing contests are one of my favorite things to do when I have extra time. They can be challenging, but if you get an honorable mention, place, or win the sense of validation is huge.
