Comparing and being jealous of other writer's success doesn’t do anyone any good. Sometimes, someone gets a publishing contract and you don’t because maybe they are a hot button topic issue. Or your book just didn’t hit the market they want at that time. It’s a crazy business, unpredictable, and if you get lost in the comparison game you are doing a disservice to your writing.
I realized that writing is about the heart, and not so much the head. If I can evoke an emotion response from you, I've done something right.
If you listen to the experts, you'll find that one will say you must write 5k a day. Another will instruct you to take deep breathes as you blindly write, and still another will tell you they do their best work at two o'clock in the morning. Everyone has an answer and knows best but those directions belongs to them, not you.
